Artifical Lighting

The Gate District on Shams Island, Abu Dhabi, can be reached via motorway over two bridges. One of these motorways passes directly through the Gate District Tower Complex. So this ensemble has the appearance of a real gate. The shape, which is derived from Stone Henge in Great Britain, is enhanced at night by the façade lighting. Thereby attention has to be turned to sustainable lighting (dark sky and low impact on interiors) and a minimalistic lighting fixture design which is not apparent at daytime. A conservative lighting is achieved by a sensitive approach; i.e. lighting only the specific architectural elements.
