The new building stands next to the historic monument of the Hahnentorburg, a former gate to the medieval city. Its stepped profile is designed to complement the setting; the tall East façade stands next to the gate and looks directly towards the city centre. The façade lighting is carefully integrated and considers the historic setting as well as its long distance views.
