Passegner Termina Expo 2023
Meet Karsten and Karen @PTExpo to know our vision on airport lighting

璃辉隽 – Lichtvision’s New Chinese Name Finding a local name for our Shanghai studio wasn’t all that easy. The Chinese language functions in a very different way than English or German – no way to literally translate Lichtvision to ‘light vision’ like you could in English!
Our team in Asia came up with an ingenious combination based on pronunciation, meaning and individual characters:
璃辉隽 [Lí Hui Jùn]
The pronunciation sounds similar to our actual name, whilst the meaning reflects characteristics and core values of our company. [Lí] resembles colourful and shining jade stone, [Huí] light, brilliance and shine and [Jùn] stands for beautiful, talented people. Considering, that each characters meaning depends on its context and that they cannot be combined freely, this was a serious puzzle, which our colleagues solved beautifully!

Together with COLLECTIVE and M+, Lichtvision created lighting for the “Shifting Objectives” exhibition, which opened to the public today. The new museum of visual culture in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District shows key elements from their collection of mid-20th-century to today’s design. The design team was able to explore and develop a lighting atmosphere that allows to connect with individual objects and relate to them in an unusually intimate and personal way. If you have a chance, please go, see and enjoy!
